About SoCalGas University

The SoCalGas University (SCGU) portal serves as a centralized hub for professional development opportunities across the organization. Available resources include instructor-led classes, interactive webinars, and a wide range of online learning tools. The portal is organized into four primary categories: Know the Business, Grow Your Skills, Lead Your Team, and Manage Your Career. Within each category, resources are further organized by topic, making it easy to identify and access the learning materials that best align with your development needs.

Nick began his career with SoCalGas in 2015 as a Meter Reader at the Garden Grove base. He soon advanced into his first management position as Community Liaison for the Aliso Canyon Project, where he strengthened stakeholder relationships and developed key leadership skills. He later served as Project Specialist for the Sewer Lateral Inspection Project (SLIP), broadening his operational expertise. In 2017, Nick transitioned into the role of Learning and Development Coordinator, dedicating three years to fostering employee growth and advancing organizational learning. Building on the insights and experience gained throughout his career, he now serves as an Employee Development Advisor, guiding professional development initiatives across the company.

Nick holds a B.A. in Speech Communications from the University of La Verne and is a certified Organizational Change Management Practitioner.

Who / What Inspires you?

I'm inspired by individuals who wholeheartedly embrace their personal and professional journeys. They understand that challenges and setbacks carry equal significance to achievements, each serving as a catalyst for growth. Every experience - whether marked by success or adversity - becomes an opportunity to learn, evolve, and strengthen resilience. Such individuals use their experiences as opportunities for growth, improving each day while making a lasting, positive impact on those around them.

Julian began his career with SoCalGas in 2011 as a Meter Reader at the Aliso Viejo base. He advanced into his first management role as a Field Instructor for Meter Reading, where he guided and developed frontline employees. He later served as Supervisor at the Hollywood and Glendale bases for three years, further strengthening his leadership capabilities. As meter reading operations phased out, Julian transitioned into a Field Supervisor role on the MSA Inspection Team, where he spent two years overseeing field activities across the Saticoy and Chino hubs.

Julian holds a B.A. in Sociology from Ottawa University and earned an M.S. in Leadership and Management, with a focus on Organizational Development, from the University of La Verne.

Who / What Inspires you?

I'm inspired by individuals who step beyond their comfort zones, embrace challenges, and approach the unknown with optimism. The most remarkable are those who transform adversity into opportunity, viewing every difficult circumstance as a chance to learn, grow, and evolve. Supporting people with this mindset is both motivating and profoundly rewarding, as it allows me to witness their success and the powerful ripple effect they create by uplifting others along the way.

Amy joined SoCalGas in 1999, bringing with her a strong passion for coaching and talent development. Throughout her career, she has consistently pursued roles that emphasize collaboration, empower growth, and support individuals in building new skills to thrive. As a lifelong learner, Amy is deeply committed to the belief that acquiring knowledge, expanding understanding, and continuously developing new capabilities are essential to both personal and professional success.

Amy holds a M.A. in Leadership and Management, with a focus on Business Administration, from the University of La Verne.

Who / What Inspires you?

I'm inspired by witnessing others achieve success, reach their goals, and contribute meaningfully to the growth of SoCalGas. Few experiences are more rewarding than seeing individuals I have supervised, mentored, or coached advance to become confident, capable leaders.

Jesikah launched her career with SoCalGas in 2009 as a Meter Reader and has since advanced through a diverse range of positions across the organization. Her experience encompasses customer service, regional dispatch applications, planning and distribution administration, pipeline integrity permitting, capital projects outreach, and customer assistance program outreach.

Jesikah holds a Certificate in Human Resources from the University of Redlands, a B.A. in Interpersonal Communication from California State University, Long Beach, and a M.A. in Organizational Development from Arizona State University Global Campus.

Who / What Inspires you?

I'm inspired by a deep commitment to empowering others to transcend self-imposed limitations through continuous learning and growth. From the earliest stages of my journey, I found myself naturally connecting with individuals, uncovering their sources of motivation, and guiding them toward discovering their passion and purpose. What fulfills me most is the opportunity to foster both personal and professional development - and to witness the transformative impact that emerges when confidence and clarity align with direction.

Jessica began her career with SoCalGas in 2001 as a part-time Customer Service Representative at the San Dimas Call Center. In 2011, she advanced into her first management role as a CCC Training Specialist, where she was responsible for training and supporting new Customer Service Representatives. After six years in that position, she transitioned into a Call Center Supervisor role, which she held for three years, further strengthening her leadership and operational expertise. In 2021, Jessica joined the Organizational Effectiveness team as an Organizational Development Advisor, where she provides consulting services to leaders across the company and builds strong partnerships with diverse teams to drive organizational growth and effectiveness.

Jessica holds a B.S. in Organizational Management from the University of La Verne. She is also a certified Everything DiSC Workplace Facilitator and a Prosci Certified Change Practitioner.

Who / What Inspires you?

I'm inspired by the opportunity to build authentic connections with others. I place great value on relationship-building and draw energy from engaging with people on a meaningful, human level. As a facilitator, few experiences are more rewarding than witnessing the "lightbulb moment" - when someone gains new knowledge, overcomes a challenge, or begins to develop confidence. Contributing to an individual's journey, and helping them achieve their goals and create positive change, is profoundly fulfilling.

Paul joined SoCalGas in 2022, bringing with him more than 20 years of expertise in education, training and development, and leadership development. He spent eight years in the public school system and continues to hold a valid California State Teaching Credential. Transitioning to the corporate sector, Paul designed and implemented training and leadership programs for a Fortune 100 company as well as within the aerospace industry. Over the course of his career, he has developed, coached, and mentored hundreds of professionals in advancing their leadership capabilities.

Paul holds a M.A. in Education and is certified in MBTI, DiSC, and CliftonStrengths.

Who / What Inspires you?

I'm inspired by the opportunity to help others uncover extraordinary potential within themselves - often beyond what they believed possible. I thrive on building strong, positive relationships and partnering with individuals as they overcome obstacles, develop new skills, and pursue their career aspirations. While I may never bend history myself, I am driven by the hope of inspiring the mind that will.
